Are you feeling tired of change?
I think we have all had enough changes in the past two years to last us a life time.
But I am still a lover of seasons, because of the change they bring.
Confusing, isn’t it? The thing is, change is hard … and it can be beautiful.
I think that is why I am so grateful to live where we have 4 seasons.
I have friends that live where they get summer all year, and as wonderful and warm as that sounds, I would really miss the changes that naturally come with each new season.
The fresh blooms in our gardens.
Trees filling in with new leaves.
Later sunsets.
Coloured leaves.
Fresh snowfall.
Mornings and evenings by the fireplace as snow falls outside.
A winter walk in forests covered in snow.
Warm days and cool evenings.
Warm walks on the beach.
I could go on. Without the changes of the seasons there are so many differences, new growth, and hibernation that wouldn’t happen.
I think that is what we miss when we don’t have the changes and seasons.
Ironically enough, it is the seasons that leave us uncertain.
Do you lack clarity on what is next for you? Does it leave you feeling overwhelmed and probably quite anxious?
You feel quite comfortable where you are, and something new is throwing you off a bit?
I agree, it does feel uncertain, new, and a little scary. Change has thrown all of us.
The past few years have reminded me of how I felt when my kids were babies and toddlers. As soon as I figured out one stage, they would move onto another one. Just as I realized their teeth were popping through, and that was what all the crying was about, they would move onto another development stage and I found myself learning all over again.
I guess that is how you feel too … as soon as you figure out one season you are moving into another one.
Maybe you have even felt the same as I do each February, like I am bidding my time until the warmer weather and sunshine gets here.
Reality though, is that there is always a good and a bad that we are needing to balance. Being content, and yet looking forward. Present, yet visionary. Growing, yet being able to be still.
Changes of seasons.
There are often seasons in our lives that bring hard changes with them.
Job changes, moves, empty nests, or retirements to name a few.
A season brings newness, and adjustments.
But it is just that, a season.
You may enjoy the sun and warmth of summer and wish it would just stay, but then you would miss the beauty of the change.
The new growth as you move through your new season. The blooms it will bring. You will still need to pull a few weeds, and shift some plants that may need some pruning, but as you do your bloom will be fuller and brighter.
Have you noticed the leaves are their brightest colours right before they fall? Even though they go through a harsh winter the buds come out again in the spring bright and full, stay bright and green for a season and then begin to change colour again.
Isn’t that so much like you and I? Just like my kids. We enter a new season not sure what it involves. and how we should embrace it, but find the bright colours and beauty in time for new changes.
The seasons of change and the changes of seasons.
What I do know is this … you’ve got this. You have just what you need to take the next step and bloom as bright as you want to bloom.
What’s your favourite season and what is the beauty you find in it?
What makes you most uncertain about the next season you are entering?
If you want to continue to find the beauty and clarity of whatever your next season is, our Bloom membership will help you find it.
