Wish you could change things up?
Have you wanted to move forward but felt unsure, unqualified, or lacking what you felt was needed?
I have great news!
Did you know that you have just what you need to take the next steps?
No seriously, you do.
I’m with you that sometimes it can be hard to feel it, but I have a tool that will help you change that.
The secret?
Gratitude.
Yup, in a nutshell, that’s it.
Practice gratitude daily and it will not only change things up, but it will transform your life and how you show up.
The funny thing is that really not much changes around you, but the mindset shift will make you feel like everything in your life has changed.
The practice of gratitude can change how you view your world around you, the steps you will take moving forward, will deepen your relationships, and help you to recognize that you can say no.
Sounds good, right? And all that will change in your actions is a daily practice.
Don’t let the simplicity fool you. It is life changing.
Here’s how it works:
What you appreciate, appreciates ~ Brian Dixon
When you are grateful for something, you show up for it. You want to show up for it because of the gratitude.
My son-in-law caught the flu and was paralyzed for a month just before his 11th birthday. Instead of attacking the virus, his body’s immune system targeted the nerve endings at the base of his spinal cord, giving him a condition called acute transverse myelitis. He was told he would most likely never walk again outside of a miracle. He spent a month in and out of hospital and doctors offices, every morning waking up and needing his wheelchair.
Until one morning he woke up, walked to his wheelchair and sat down. So naturally and easily, that he didn’t even realize he had done it until it happened. (if you think about the rehab that is needed after you haven’t moved muscles in a month, and the fact that he didn’t even notice being uncomfortable using his legs before sitting in the chair, it is incredible.)
He then walked to his Mom, then into the doctor’s office, and everywhere else since.
The doctors said it was a miracle, and he agrees. His doctor just kept asking him to walk down the hall because he couldn’t believe it.
You can imagine how much he appreciates the use of his legs now.
He appreciated them so much, he set his intentions to use them well. He competed in track and field right up to graduating from University.
I asked him what gave him the dedication and devotion to the practice and choices he needed to do in order to almost make it to the junior Olympic team, and he said it was his gratitude for the gift God had given him in the use of his legs.
You see … What we think we about determines how we show up in our lives.
When you focus on gratitude and what you have been given, you show up in response to using that to the best of your ability. It’s just a natural response.
When we appreciate a relationship, we show up for it.
When we appreciate something we own, we take care of it.
When we appreciate a gift or talent God has given us, we use it.
As Canadian Thanksgiving weekend begins tomorrow, what are you grateful for?
This weekend take the time and write out what you are grateful for. Find 5 very specific things each morning and evening, and I promise you it will make a difference in how you show up. You can use a journal, post-it-notes, index cards, markers on a mirror, or any piece of paper. Just make sure you write them down. Saying them or thinking them is not nearly as effective as writing them down.
And if you want to get fancy and consistent, you can use our Everyday Purpose Journal that gives a dedicated spot every day to write out your gratitude focus. It gives 3 months worth of journaling and everyday purpose pages for you to begin with intentional purpose every day.

Also be sure to follow me on Facebook (Janice Stone Life Coach) and on Instagram (janicestone_lifecoach) for gratitude prompts all weekend.
Every day is a great day to start writing out what you are grateful for, but being Thanksgiving weekend, it’s a perfect time!
